We will soon be holding elections for former member positions on the PFA's Players' Board.
The Players’ Board plays a key role within the running of the PFA, reflecting the views of members and former members to the union’s leadership.
We are seeking applications from former PFA members for election to the three former member positions reserved on the Players’ Board.
Applicants for these positions should be able to demonstrate a passion for and understanding of the work of the PFA, along with values and expertise relevant to the role. This can include leadership or other boardroom experience, or specialist knowledge relevant to the PFA’s support for its members.
Two of the three former member positions on the PFA Players’ Board are allocated to players that have retired within the last five years. The final position is open to any former member.
We very much look forward to hearing from you if you are interested in helping shape the work of our union.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE PFA PLAYERS’ BOARD ELECTION?
How many positions are there on the PFA Players' Board?
There are 13 positions overall, with ten positions allocated to current members and three to former members. The composition of the Players' Board is as follows:
- 2 x Premier League players
- 2 x Women's Super League players
- 2 x Championship players
- 2 x League One players
- 2 x League Two players
- 3 x Former members
Who decides whether I will be included on the voting shortlist?
A sub-committee of the Players' Board will consider every application against the criteria set out and decide which candidates go forward to the shortlist for election.
How will members decide on who to vote for?
All shortlisted candidates will have the right to produce an election address of up to 250 words. This will be circulated to eligible voting members with the ballots.
When is the vote held for Players' Board positions?
Voting will take place over a three week period that commences once the ballots have been printed and posted out to members. Our current expectation is that election will be held at the end of September/beginning of October.
Why is it a postal vote?
Current trade union law dictates that all votes must be conducted via post.
If I am a former PFA member and hold a position as a current manager, coach or executive at a club, can I apply to be on the Players' Board?
No. If you are currently a manager, coach, or executive at a club, you cannot apply to be on the Players' Board.
Who will monitor the election to ensure all rules are followed?
In line with trade union law, the independent scrutineer appointed by the PFA for these elections is Civica Election Services Ltd.
