The PFA is pleased to confirm that three former members, Chris Maxwell, Louise Quinn and Steven Reid, have been elected to serve as former player representatives on the Players’ Board.
The union would also like to thank departing Board members for their valued contributions and guidance during their tenure. Peter Vincenti, who has served as Vice-Chair and been a member since 2015, along with Simon Gillett and Tom Adeyemi, have each played an important role in supporting the work of the Players’ Board.
Chris Maxwell enjoyed a long career across the English and Welsh leagues, making over 400 senior appearances for clubs including Wrexham, Fleetwood Town, Preston North End and Blackpool. A former Wales youth international, Maxwell brings a wealth of experience from across multiple divisions and playing environments, adding valuable depth and perspective to the Board.
Louise Quinn represented clubs in Ireland, Sweden, England and Italy during an 18-year playing career, including title-winning spells with Peamount United and Arsenal. A centurion for the Republic of Ireland, she earned more than 120 caps and captained her country. Since retiring earlier this year, Quinn has continued to champion the growth of women’s football and brings extensive international and cross-league experience to her new role.
Steven Reid joins the Board following a distinguished career in the Premier League and Championship, most notably with Millwall, Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion. A Republic of Ireland international, Reid made over 350 senior appearances before transitioning into coaching roles across the professional game. He has since gained experience in wellbeing, leadership and player support. His expertise across playing, coaching and mentoring brings valuable insight to the Board’s work.
The Players’ Board consists of 13 elected representatives and ensures that the voices of players from across the professional game are heard by the union’s leadership. The Board is made up of two current playing representatives from the Premier League, WSL, Championship, League One and League Two, as well as three former members.
In line with trade union law, all ballots were conducted via post. The scrutineers were Civica Election Services.
