Grace Clinton has been voted PFA Young Player of the Year after a tremendous breakthrough campaign in the WSL.
The 21-year-old starred during her loan spell with Tottenham Hotspur in the 2023/24 season, scoring four goals and assisting four others in 20 league appearances.
Clinton was also on the mark in the League Cup and played an integral role in Spurs’ charge in the Women’s FA Cup, although she was ineligible to play in the final against her parent club Manchester United.
Her impressive performances were noted by Sarina Wiegman, who called Clinton into her England squad for the first time in 2024.
She made her first full start against Austria after two appearances off the bench, and duly made an impact with her first international goal in a 7-2 win for the Lionesses.
Receiving her Award, Clinton stated: “It’s such an honour to be voted by the unbelievable players that play in this league. It’s the best league in the world.
“To go out on loan, learning as a young player and being recognized is lovely. I’ve played with confidence and when you play with that then you see the best version of a player.
“Tottenham have been a massive part of my journey, and I can’t thank them enough. Goals and visualization are important to me but most of all just enjoying playing. If I’m enjoying myself then I play my best football.”
Clinton beat out a host of talented players to earn the award with Lauren James, Aggie Beever-Jones, Khiara Keating, Maya Le Tissier and Jess Park among the names on the Top Six shortlist.
