MK Dons defender Dean Lewington has been honoured with the 2024 PFA Merit Award for his services to the game.
Lewington broke the all-time English record for most league appearances for a single club by making his 771st appearance for MK Dons in the 2023/24 campaign in their win over Colchester United on Boxing Day.
The defender began his career at Wimbledon and moved with the club following their relocation to Milton Keynes in 2004. Since then, he has totalled over 900 games in all competitions.
Lewington has enjoyed a distinguished career, winning three promotions and earning two appearances in the PFA Team of the Year in League Two in 2008 and League One in 2009 respectively.
Lewington’s dedication to MK Dons has even seen him serve as caretaker manager on two occasions. At the age of 40, he remains an active part of the first team under Mike Williamson in the current League Two campaign.
