Top Six | Women's PFA Players' Player of the Year, 2024

The Top Six shortlist for the 2023/24 PFA Player of the Year award has been chosen by PFA members. The winner will be revealed at the PFA Awards on 20 August at the Manchester Opera House.

  • Niamh Charles, Chelsea
  • Erin Cuthbert, Chelsea
  • Yui Hasegawa, Manchester City
  • Lauren Hemp, Manchester City
  • Lauren James, Chelsea
  • Khadija Shaw Manchester City

Players have voted for their standout performers from the WSL 2023/24 campaign, with nominees set to be honoured on 20 August at this year’s PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester.

The Top Six shortlist for PFA Player of the Year includes the league’s top scorer Bunny Shaw, whose 22 goals for Manchester City - eight more than any other player - is her best scoring performance to date.

She’s joined by teammate Lauren Hemp who netted 13 times for City. The record breaking four-time PFA Young Player of the Year is nominated for the Player of the Year prize for the first time.

City’s Yui Hasegawa also makes the Top Six list for the 2023/24 campaign. The reliable playmaker played a huge part in Gareth Taylor’s midfield over the season and would become the first ever Japanese recipient of the award.

WSL Champions Chelsea have three nominees in the running. Lauren James ended the season as the club’s top scorer with 13 goals, and her nomination puts her in contention to be the first woman to win both the PFA Young Player of the Year and PFA Player of the Year Awards.

Erin Cuthbert’s role in Hayes’ midfield has also been recognised by the PFA membership. Her consistency for the Blues and eight goals in all competitions sees her pick up a Top Six spot.

Finally, the consistent and versatile Niamh Charles secures her a place in the WSL's Top Six. The Chelsea captain started every league game under Hayes and the season ended with Charles lifting her fourth consecutive WSL trophy.
