Leyton Orient defender and PFA Chair, Omar Beckles, has been named the EFL Player in the Community.
The EFL Player in the Community Award, sponsored by the PFA, recognises those EFL players who have played the most significant role in supporting community work and has gone over and above that which would normally be expected.
Beckles, who was also a nominee for the award last season, continues to actively engage with the community through his own initiatives, including his own Hub365 Foundation and in partnership with Leyton Orient Trust across their extensive youth and community networks.
"I have got a massive passion for working with the youth through being in non-league football, I have gone through working with younger people who have been less fortunate. Through my journey I have had people that have been excellent for me and gave me a pathway and I’m trying to replicate that.
"Currently I am an ambassador for a local SEN School and it has been amazing just to see the impact that it has had on some of the kids.”
Congratulations Omar from everyone at the PFA!
