Arsenal’s Katie McCabe has been named PFA WSL Fans’ Player of the Month following an impressive spell of displays during October.
McCabe won the first award of the season ahead of a strong list of nominees featuring Martha Thomas, Elisabeth Terland, Niamh Charles, Lena Petermann and Khiara Keating.
The Arsenal midfielder notched three goals in four appearances for the Gunners, allowing her side to keep pace with early frontrunners Chelsea in the WSL standings.
McCabe put in a standout performance to get Arsenal’s first win of the campaign against Aston Villa in dramatic circumstances.
She found the back of the net in the 92nd minute to cancel out Maz Pacheco’s opener before Alessia Russo struck two minutes later to secure the three points.
McCabe did it all herself in Arsenal’s next outing on the road to Bristol City. The Republic of Ireland international put the Gunners ahead before the Robins equalised. But, McCabe was on point to score her second of the game in the second half to earn Arsenal the win.
