Carlisle United’s Jordan Gibson has earned the PFA League One Fans’ Player of the Month award following a series of fine performances.
Gibson has claimed the prize for the first time in his career, finishing ahead of Portsmouth duo Colby Bishop and Conor O’Shaughnessy as well as Alfie May, Jordan Rhodes and Ephron Mason-Clark in the fans’ voting.
Although Paul Simpson’s men have endured an up and down time following their promotion to League One, Gibson stood out with his performances in October. He began the month with a crucial effort right at the death against Peterborough to earn Carlisle a share of the spoils at Brunton Park.
Gibson then channelled that momentum with an exceptional performance, notching the first hat-trick of his career in a 3-1 victory over promotion-chasing Bolton Wanderers on the road. It was the first time in almost four years that a Carlisle player netted three goals in a game.
Gibson was not done yet in October as he helped Simpson’s men get back to winning ways, scoring the equaliser in their 2-1 triumph over Burton Albion.
