Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville has been awarded the PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Month for October after a stellar set of performances.
Summerville has collected the prize for the first time, beating out Leeds teammate Dan James along with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Leif Davis, Perry Ng and Seny Dieng.
The 22-year-old’s form was a key factor in Leeds’ surge up the Championship table, starting the month outside the playoff spots and ending it sitting just outside the top two in third.
Daniel Farke’s men won four out of their five matches during October and the Dutchman found the net in three of those games.
Summerville’s October began by scoring the decisive goal in the Whites’ 1-0 win over Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road. He then supplied the opener for James in a 2-1 triumph over Bristol City on home soil.
However, his most important contribution came in Leeds’ remarkable comeback against Norwich. The Canaries took a 2-0 lead before an own goal got Farke’s team back into the game. Summerville then played the role of match-winner with two late goals to earn the Whites a third win in a row.
After suffering a rare defeat to Stoke, Summerville got Leeds back to winning ways with a brilliant performance to end the month. He scored twice and set up two more for James in a dominant 4-1 win over Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town at Elland Road.
