Former Wales goalkeeper Dai Davies passes away

The PFA is deeply saddened by the news that former Wales goalkeeper Dai Davies has passed away, aged 72.

Davies was born in a mining village in Wales, after leaving college where he trained to be a PE teacher he joined Swansea.

In 1970 he moved to Everton where he made 82 appearances over seven seasons.

After leaving the Toffees 1977, Davies moved to Wrexham where he helped the side win the Football League Division Three title.

After leaving Wrexham in 1981 Davies returned to Swansea City and had spells with Bangor City and Tranmere Rovers.

Davies made his Welsh international debut on 16 April 1975 against Hungary and went on to gain a total of 52 caps.

The thoughts and condolences of everyone at the PFA are with Dai’s family and friends.
