The PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month award nominations for November have been made, with six players from each of the top five professional leagues in England being shortlisted for their outstanding performances in November.
Voting is now open for fans to pick one player from each league listed in the shortlists below to win the Player of the Month award – fans can do so on the 90min.com website.
Manchester City stars Bernardo Silva & Joao Cancelo (Manchester City) are included alongside Diogo Jota (Liverpool), Reece James (Chelsea), Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal), Teemu Pukki (Norwich), as the six players up for the award in the Premier League.
Jota has slotted into Jurgen Klopp’s high-scoring Liverpool front three once again this season and in November, stepped it up a gear with three goals in as many games. Reece James receives a second nomination in a row, with two assists and two goals in the month.
Arsenal’s recent resurgence has had much to do with Ramsdale’s performances in goal, with several sharp saves and two clean sheets in the three November fixtures. Silva and Cancelo were a driving force in Manchester City’s 100% record in November, with the Portuguese pair combining for four direct goal contributions in the month.
In the WSL, Victoria Williams (Brighton & Hove Albion), Natasha Dowie (Reading), Ria Percival (Tottenham Hotspur), Jessie Flemming (Chelsea) joined Beth Mead and Katie McCabe (Arsenal), who were shortlisted once again.
Brighton won two of their three league games in the month, with Williams leading the effort to secure clean sheets in both of those victories, which have shot her team up to third in the league. Their only defeat came against Dowie’s Reading side, who went unbeaten in their three games with two goals from Dowie.
Percival’s last-minute heroics against Manchester United earnt her a nomination, while Flemming heroics on the wing contributed heavily to Chelsea’s unbeaten month. Arsenal remain top of the division, having not lost a game all year while McCabe receives another nomination for that reason alongside fellow forward Mead, who was nominated in September.
In the EFL Championship, the six nominees are Aleksandar Mitrovic (Fulham), Tom Lawrence (Derby County), Ben Brereton-Diaz (Blackburn Rovers), Lewis Grabban (Nottingham Forest), Nathan Baxter and George Honeyman (Hull City).
Mitrovic’s incredible goalscoring record in the Championship earns him a third nomination in a row, while Tom Lawrence’s goals have proved a shining light for Derby. Brereton-Diaz returns to the nominations list for the second time this season, with four goals in November as Blackburn bounced back from a hammering from Fulham to go unbeaten for the rest of the month.
Grabban has led the line for Forest, who have enjoyed a resurgence under new boss Steve Cooper, as have Baxter and Honeyman for Hull, who lifted themselves out of the relegation zone with four wins in a row.
Scott Twine (MK Dons), Marcus Harness (Portsmouth), Callum Lang (Wigan), Joe Ironside (Cambridge United), Conor Washington (Charlton Athletic) and Daniel Jebbison (Burton Albion) are the six nominees in EFL League One.
Three wins in four for MK Dons and three goals in four for Twine earns him a spot on the shortlist, as his goalscoring antics were replicated by Harness for Portsmouth, who won four in a row in November. Lang went one better with a goal in each of his three appearances in the month, while Ironside has been a shining light in a difficult November for Cambridge.
Washington’s goals have been crucial for Charlton as they continue to recover from a poor start to the season, while loanee Jebbison showed his potential in two resounding victories for Burton to end the month.
To wrap up the shortlist, Dom Telford (Newport County), Louis John (Sutton United), Jack Payne (Swindon Town), Jamilie Matt, Matt Stevens & Jordan Moore-Taylor (Forest Green Rovers) are the six nominees for the award in League Two.
Telford is in impressive scoring form, the forward having found the net in each of his last four games. John is one of few defenders on the shortlist this month, and with his side conceding just one league goal in November, is deserving of his spot.
Payne has scored three goals from midfield in November, while Forest Green’s dominance at the top of League Two, sees three of their players up for the award this month, with Rovers winning all three of their league games in November and conceding just one goal.
