Sue Smith receives honorary doctorate

Former England and Doncaster Belles player Sue Smith has received an honorary doctorate from York St John University.

Sue was awarded the title of Doctor of Health Sciences for her sporting excellence, success as an national and international player and for her role as a sports pioneer.

She was also praised for her position as a role model for aspiring female footballers and for her work in the community and within schools.

The graduation ceremony took place in the impressive York Minister in the centre of York.

Sue joins the likes of Sandi Toksvig, Chris Evans and Hannah Cockcroft MBE in being a York St John University honorary graduate.
