Jamie Vardy’s record goal-scoring achievement has been honoured at the 2016 PFA Awards.
The Leicester City and England striker became the first player to score in 11 consecutive Premier League matches, breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy's record.
Dutchman Van Nistelrooy achieved his feat for Manchester United across two seasons in 2003.
Speaking at the time (November 2015), Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri said Vardy's record was "an incredible achievement".
With the Italian adding: "Jamie made the record, it is fantastic for us. Five years ago he played in non-league, it is difficult to grow up so quickly and this fantastic man is not only our goalscorer but he presses, he works hard, he is important."
Fast–forward to April 2016 and Leicester’s fairytale season has continued with the Foxes currently sat on the top of the Premier League with only 3 games to go.
Jamie Vardy has mirrored his domestic form at international level, with an obvious highlight scoring an audacious back-heel past Manuel Neuer in England’s thrilling 3-2 comeback against Germany.
Vardy is currently the third top-goal scorer in the Premier League with 22 goals, and hoping to guide Leicester to a historic Premier League title before booking his place with England for Euro 2016.
