Heart4More Foundation has announced Arsenal FC & Spanish Youth International, Hector Bellerin as an ambassador.
Born March 19, 1995 in Barcelona, Spain, Hector was chosen from more than 200 children his age for the FC Barcelona Academy as a youngster, where he was part of the Barcelona youth system for eight years. In July 2011 he joined Arsenal FC, and has progressed through the sides youth teams all the way through to the first team. He has also represented Spain at U16, U17 & U19 level.
The announcement comes after Bellerin has been closely affiliated with the foundation over the past 12-months. “After being introduced to Tobi at a social event, our mutual friend, Semi Ajayi told me about Tobi’s initial incident and he told me he was going to start a foundation. His story really shocked me and since then I decided to help him through it”, said Hector when asked about how he came to hear about Tobi Alabi and Heart4More Foundation. ” What made me chose to help was the empathy I felt towards Tobi, just thinking that if that happened to me I really don’t know what I’d do and the fact that he’s trying to do things for other people takes a lot of courage so that’s the reason why I chose to help. There are always loads of organisations that want your help but I really felt inspired that Tobi and the Foundation are not only trying to help people with screening’s they are also trying to help young people by educating them on and off the pitch, the fact that he is doing that makes me want to help him and the foundation.”
Tobi has always been very outspoken about those who have helped the foundation achieve the small level of success it has so far, although it seems he has special praise for Hector Bellerin and rightly so, “I’m very happy and proud that we can finally announce Hector as ambassador of the foundation. He has helped me on a personal note massively and even more so, the foundation. He embodies what we promote at the foundation as an individual, he is a role model to many and lets face it, he’s soon to be a house hold name, I had to tie him to the foundation” said Alabi.
Hector finally added, ” It was something that just happened {becoming ambassador} I helped him a lot In the beginning especially and we just both decided it would be a good step to take, I was really pleased that Tobi wanted me to be an ambassador for the foundation and i’m really proud of it. I’m really surprised and impressed at the big strides he has made within a year with the foundation, it’s a well structured organisation and I’m really happy for Tobi especially that the foundation is going well because its great to see his hard work being rewarded. I have a great relationship with Tobi, and he knows I’m here for him with things relating to the foundation and on a personal note.”
Hector will be officially revealed as ambassador at the foundations, ‘Heart4Amour Valentines Dinner’ on Saturday 14th February (subject to fixture change).
