Former Blackburn star Andy Todd, is to take part in Total Warrior to help raise £10,000 for Help For Heroes.
Total Warrior takes place over the weekend of 4th/5th August in the Lake District and is acknowledged as one of the most demanding events in the UK. Total Warrior comprises two days of gruelling races over challenging, Marine-style obstacle courses.
On the first day there is a 10-kilometre race and on the second day there is a 10-mile race. Entrants can take part on either day or, in the case of Andrew’s team, they can do both days and compete in what is known as the Super 10 Weekend.
"I hope that as many people as possible get behind our team and help us raise funds to help our injured servicemen and women. For me, every one of them is a hero and I hope that we can do our bit to help those who put their lives on the line.”
Andy Todd, PFA Member.
Andy’s wife, Dawn, is also taking part in the 10km race and both Dawn and Andrew are training at B Physical in Ashbourne and with former professional boxer, Clive Fearon, at his One Nation Health Centre in Derby.
In recent years Andy has taken part in a variety of charity events, including the charity white collar boxing event, which Clive Fearon organised last September.
Commenting on the forthcoming event Andrew said: “We have set an ambitious fundraising target for Help For Heroes, but as we’re already over the £1,000 mark I am confident that we will reach this target by the time we’re running through the Lake District."
All donations should be made via the Just Giving website, where there are details of the event. Whilst all donations are very welcome there is an added bonus people donate at least £5.00 will be entered into a prize draw to win Andrew’s signed shirts from Blackburn Rovers, Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic.
