PFA continues to offer support to Paul Gascoigne
The PFA continues to be concerned about Paul Gascoigne's welfare and have supported him throughout his career and beyond.
The Union has provided assistance financially and medically, supporting the provision of rehabilitation and treatments received both in the UK and abroad.
The PFA recently arranged a detoxification for Paul through the Sporting Chance Clinic; a vital first step in beginning the rehabilitation process. Regrettably Paul checked himself out and chose not to complete the programme.
We will continue to work with Paul and those closest to him. We would like to stress that the support of the PFA and the Tony Adam’s Sporting Chance Clinic remain available both to Paul and any other members in a similar need or circumstance.
Sporting Chance Clinic is one of the world's most innovative centres for the treatment of behavioural problems and is now an integral tool for our members.
Mental health problems affect one in six of the population at any one time, despite this many people are unaware of the symptoms. Good mental health is vital for peak performance in sport.
