Fan friendly football app teams up with PFA ...
Players’ Union strike partnership as supporters back top stars!
The beautiful game has found its perfect match as players and fans join forces to bring positivity back to football.
Fully interactive football app High5it has already won the support of thousands of fans since its launch at the end of last year.
And now the world’s longest established professional sportsperson’s union – the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) – has revealed it is right behind a bold vision to restore the game’s core values via social media.
High5it and the PFA today join forces to generate appreciation for players across England after striking a groundbreaking partnership set to benefit supporters and their terrace heroes.
“The High5it App is a terrific way for fans across the country to show their appreciation of good football."Ritchie Humphreys, PFA Chairman, Chesterfield FC midfielder and High5it ambassador
“At a time when social media can be negative, for the players and PFA members this a great way for us to interact with the fans and check out how our teams have been appreciated in a positive way. Goals, shots, saves, passes, tackles, blocks and headers are all part of winning a game. Now these can all be appreciated interactively by giving your favourite player a High5.”
Ian Evatt, High5it Director of Football and a professional player with more than 400 senior appearances to his name, said: “It was clear from day one that we share a common goal with the PFA – to promote respect, positivity and passion within football. High5it was created to promote positive interaction between players and fans and give something back to the football community. That clearly resonated with our friends at the PFA and we’re delighted to be working with them moving forward.”
Launched in November 2014, High5it is the app to tap when you want to give your favorite player the praise he deserves. Follow the big games and the big names with live text commentary, up-to-date formations, unique statistics and brilliant interaction with fellow fans.
The PFA’s Deputy Chief Executive, Bobby Barnes, added: “At a time when many prefer to focus on negatives, the High5It App provides a welcome link between fan and player - it helps us all to remember why we love the beautiful game. It’s time to hear the voices of those who appreciate great saves, goals, passes or even tackles!”
Available as a free download now – via iTunes and Google Play - the High5it app works with live match data from England’s domestic leagues and major European competitions. At the match, in the pub or on the sofa at home, fans can be part of the game they love - appreciating football’s most famous faces and sharing their thoughts with fellow supporters.
High5it is user-friendly and made for football. Each week, fans and players will be able to view the app’s unique fan appreciation statistics including:
- Most Appreciated Players from each match
- Most Appreciated Players and teams of the week
- The all-star ‘Super Team’ of the week from each League or cup competition.
For football fans young and old - in the UK or abroad - High5it has a free, secure Instant Messaging feature allowing users to share match day views and appreciation with their contacts.
Individual users can easily access the latest scores, statistics and tables that matter most to them by ‘bookmarking’ the leagues, clubs or fixtures that directly affect their team.
To support its release, High5it partnered with the Football Supporters’ Federation (FSF), one of Europe’s leading bodies for football fans, who support and promote High5it via its national network of 500,000 individual and affiliated members. In turn, High5it agreed a season-long commitment to funding FSF-led initiatives and co-promotion of the FSF within the app.
