The PFA are saddened to hear of the death of former Spurs goalkeeper Milija Aleksic, who passed away suddenly in Johannesburg last week, aged 61.
Having started his career at Port Vale, Milija played for Plymouth Argyle and Luton Town before signing with the White Hart Lane club in December 1978 for a fee of £100,000.
Famously in a game against Manchester United, Glenn Hoddle replaced Milija in a goal after he suffered a fractured jaw in a collision with Joe Jordan.
However, Milija will most fondly be remembered for his part in the Tottenham Hotspur FA Cup Final winning team in 1981, beating Manchester City 3-2. The Staffordshire born keeper featured in both the original tie and the replay, which was won with two goals from Ricardo Villa and a goal from Garth Crooks.
The PFA send their deepest sympathy to his family and friends at this sad time.
