Kasper Schmeichel is a professional football player at the Championship club Leicester City. At the age of just 19, Kasper made his debut for the English Premier League football club, Manchester City. Later, he signed for Notts County F.C. and Leeds United. As of June 2011 Kasper Schmeichel is to play for Leicester City on a 3 year contract. Kasper has played 17 matches for the Danish U21 team and in 2007, he was elected that year’s Arla talent.
Kasper Schmeichel’s girlfriend is Stine Gyldenbrand. Stine graduated as a midwife at the University of Chester in 2009. Subsequently, she has worked as a midwife at a hospital near Birmingham.
In 2012 Kasper and Stine started “The Gyldenbrand Schmeichel Foundation.” The aim of the Foundation is to support charities and good initiativs. The Gyldenbrand Schmeichel Foundation's first project is “Help a mother in Africa,” which is to focus on maternal mortality in Africa and collect as much money as possible for the Organisation Maternity Worldwide that actively saves women’s and children’s lives in connection with pregnancy and child birth.
The project has been set up because they both, for a long time, have had the dream of helping women in Africa. That is in part because they both consider maternal mortality a “forgotten” problem that is overshadowed by other issues, such as drought and hunger and in part because Stine, through her training as a midwife has always been deeply committed to the conditions for women giving birth in Africa.
Kasper and Stine will launch several projects with the aim of collecting money for Maternity Worldwide, among other things an auction that will start on the website in May 2012.
Other projects will be published continuously on the website.
