October PFA PL Fans' Player of the Month

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah leads the nominees for October’s PFA Fans’ Player of the Month as he bids to win back-to-back awards.

Salah won September’s award as he steered the Reds up the Premier League table, and he sustained his form in front of goal in October. The Egypt international scored five goals in the top flight, including two braces to earn Jurgen Klopp’s men four valuable points.

Salah was on point to notch both of Liverpool’s goals in their draw against Brighton before being the match-winner in a 2-0 triumph over Everton in the Merseyside derby.

He rounded off the month by finding the net for a fifth time in his side’s 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

But, the Premier League’s top scorer Erling Haaland will aim to dislodge Salah after a successful month of his own. Haaland scored three goals and collected an assist in his three matches.

He scored twice and provided the other in Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United in the Manchester derby. Haaland also notched an important goal against Brighton.

James Maddison’s move to Tottenham has proved to be one of the best pieces of business in the summer transfer window and he also makes a compelling case for October’s award.

Maddison continued his fine start to life at the club with a goal and assist in October, and he also forced an own goal in Spurs’ 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Bryan Mbuemo was the driving force behind Brentford’s resurgence in form in October. The forward scored twice and provided two assists in the Bees’ victories over Burnley and Chelsea.

Callum Wilson’s goals kept Newcastle United moving towards the Premier League’s top four. Wilson scored three goals in total, including a brace against Wolves on the road to earn the Magpies a share of the spoils at Molineux and bagged another in their home win against Crystal Palace.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice rounds out the nominees. The England international put on a masterclass in midfield in the Gunners’ 1-0 win over champions City at the start of the month. Rice then scored the goal that mounted a late comeback to earn a 2-2 draw at Chelsea before providing an assist in Arsenal’s 5-0 win against Sheffield United.
