Colby Bishop and Conor Shaughnessy feature for leaders Portsmouth in the nominees for October’s League One PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award.
Pompey continued their excellent start to the campaign in October, winning four of their five matches, including an incredible 3-2 comeback win over Reading on the road.
John Mousinho’s men were indebted to O’Shaughnessy twice for earning maximum points as the defender scored two stoppage-time winners against Wycombe Wanderers and Carlisle United. The 27-year-old also provided an assist to make his case for the award.
But, he faces competition from his teammate Bishop, who will be looking to win successive awards after earning the nod for his form in September. Bishop has maintained his high standards, scoring four goals and providing an assist in five games.
The forward was at his best, scoring both goals in Pompey’s 2-0 win over Port Vale, keeping the south coast outfit ahead of their rivals at the League One summit.
Charlton’s Alfie May is also in the running for October’s award after surging up the goal chart with seven goals. The forward starred in the final third, scoring in five of the Addicks’ six games, including braces in their wins over Exeter City and Wigan Athletic.
Another frontman that was on the goal trail in October was Blackpool’s Jordan Rhodes. The Seasiders endured an up and down month in League One, but Rhodes was consistent scoring in four-straight matches as well as contributing two assists.
Peterborough United kept pace with the League One pacesetters, and Ephron Mason-Clark played a vital role by scoring in three-straight games.
Mason-Clark bagged in wins over Blackpool and Port Vale along with his side’s 2-2 draw against Wycombe. He also contributed two assists to end the month on a strong note.
Carlisle United’s Jordan Gibson opened his account against Peterborough before scoring a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Bolton, and then added his fifth on the month in United’s win over Burton.
