Two Leeds United stars headline the nominees for the October PFA Championship Fans’ Player of the Month, after playing a key part in their surge up the table.
The Whites recorded four wins out of five matches during the month to move from mid-table to third place in the Championship standings.
Crysencio Summerville was at the heart of their success, scoring five goals and providing three assists for Daniel Farke’s men.
He bagged two goals apiece in victories over Norwich City and Huddersfield Town, as well as notching two assists against the latter in a 4-1 Yorkshire derby.
Summerville is not the only Leeds player nominated as Daniel James also enjoyed a successful October. The forward also scored twice against Huddersfield Town and notched a vital strike in a 2-1 victory over Bristol City at Elland Road.
Both Leeds’ men fully deserve the recognition, but the race for the October award will be competitive outside of Elland Road amid the talent in the Championship.
Runaway leaders Leicester City have lit up the second tier, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has been outstanding in their midfield.
The Foxes won all six Championship games in October, and Dewsbury-Hall played a defining role with three goals and three assists. The 25-year-old notched his second brace of the season in Leicester’s 3-0 victory over Preston North End.
Ipswich have been just as impressive as Leicester at the top of the table as they bid for a second-straight promotion. The creativity of Leif Davis will be vital for their push, and he tallied four assists as Kieran McKenna’s men won all four of their games in October.
Perry Ng’s form has helped Cardiff City move into playoff consideration after a solid month of results. The 27-year-old scored twice and was part of a Bluebirds’ backline that kept two clean sheets in their wins against Huddersfield and Bristol City.
Middlesbrough keeper Seng Dieng kept three clean sheets as Michael Carrick’s men surged up the Championship table. Dieng provided a solid foundation at the back to make vital saves in victories against Cardiff, Sunderland and Birmingham.
