PFA Men's Young Player of the Year nominee: Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal FC).

According to Arsene Wenger, Aaron Ramsey has developed into the ‘complete’ midfielder this season by adding goals to the guile which originally convinced him he was an Arsenal player in the making.

The £5million Arsenal paid for Ramsey in 2008 is looking like a steal, certainly if his manager’s current valuation of the talented midfielder is anything to go by.

Wenger says he wouldn’t sell his Welsh international for £50million, such is the impact Ramsey has made at the Emirates – despite some cruel injury setbacks.

Having recovered from his horror leg break at Stoke in 2010, Ramsey could do no wrong at the start of this season when he was one of the Barclays Premier League’s stand-out performers.

He was certainly Arsenal’s main man during the opening months of the campaign, as was confirmed by Gunners’ fans who voted him their Player of the Month for August, September, October and November.

Arsenal certainly missed Ramsey’s influence, and his goals, during his recent injury-enforced absence and it’s been a relief to all that he’s back in business.

A new, extended contract has been the Wales captain’s reward for the progress he has made under a manager who rates him alongside the top playmakers in the game.

“He has developed and matured, not only as a player but as a person as well”, Wenger was quoted as saying recently. “I was a midfielder, and I would have loved to have had what he has. He can defend, he can attack, he can score goals. What more do you want?

When you look at his improvement in the last two years, why should he stop now? I think there is a lot more to come and, if he continues to play like he has, it’s good for us and the future of Wales”.
