Recent changes in sanctions around discrimination reinforce the importance of equality and diversity issues, particularly in relation to the use of language.
The PFA provide a Senior Players Diversity Programme for all players in the Premier League, Championship and League Division One and Two.
The programme’s content has been developed by the PFA with the support of the LMA, The FA and the Premier League as part of a whole game approach to Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination.
Sessions have been delivered at clubs around the country by former players and experts on equality matters. The sessions are entirely football-focused with scenario’s provided to outline discriminatory language, behaviour and dressing-room banter.
Players have reported the sessions “10 out of 10” and “relevant and interesting”.
