Since it was founded in London in 1995, Body Control Pilates has become one of the world’s most respected Pilates training providers. It is also one of the world’s largest and most active Pilates communities with over 1,400 teachers in its membership body, all of whom trained with Body Control Pilates.

In those twenty years the popularity of Pilates has grown to the extent that it is now estimated that 1 million people in the UK take Pilates sessions on a regular basis. Most importantly, the benefits of Pilates are increasingly underpinned by independent research. Alongside its more traditional applications, Pilates is now used extensively in sport, medicine, corporate health and well being – Body Control Pilates, for example, has worked with Chelsea FC, West Bromwich Albion FC, the FA, the England cricket team, the Professional Golfers Association, Team GB Rowers and with many individual elite athletes.

Perfect for athletes looking to enhance their performance and minimise the risk of injury, Pilates is also ideal for first-time exercisers. Its slow, controlled approach means that it gives much longer-term results. It is especially recommended by medical specialists for those with back problems.  Body Control Pilates believes that exercises must be adapted to the needs of individual, not that ‘one exercise fits all’. That’s why we cover more than 100 exercises in our initial teacher training so that our teachers have the knowledge and skills to teach a broad range of clients safely and effectively.

Why are Body Control Pilates teachers so in demand?

A recent survey of Body Control Pilates teachers found that 95% had classes that were at least 80% full and 30% had a waiting list. We have been training teachers since 1995 with the goal of bringing the benefits of Pilates to all through our international teacher network. The Body Control Pilates matwork teacher training course is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world and is widely seen as an international benchmark. Once qualified, Body Control Pilates teachers have access to more than forty other courses to ensure that they have the right skills and knowledge to work with clients of all levels.
