The PFA has formed a partnership with MPL Locksmith Training to provide accredited, learning and skills for both current and former footballers.

The partnership is designed to support former players, players who may be coming to the end of their career, academy and younger players looking to learn life skills for the future. As well as providing direct locksmith training, the courses explain the potential business opportunities and earning potential for those in the trade.

There are approximately 25 million homes in the UK, over 26 million vehicles, and millions of commercial properties all of which have the potential to require locksmith services at some point. The scope of locksmithing in the UK and the potential earnings for those who are trained in these skills is significant.

The partnership is based upon MPL Locksmith Training’s ability to provide a comprehensive range of courses to give members a set of skills which will enable them to address most of the requests made of locksmiths.

MPL accredited training courses cover:

  • Techniques to gain access to uPVC, Wood and Aluminium doors on both commercial and residential properties
  • Techniques to repair/replace locking mechanisms and maintain uPVC doors and windows
  • Tilt & turn
  • Auto locksmithing
  • Access Control

Course outline

To complete all of the courses takes 12 days which can be taken over a period of 12 weeks or as a more intense programme.  All courses are delivered by experienced hands-on locksmiths with a low trainer to student ratio to ensure all those attending the courses receive the level of attention they require on an individual basis.

All courses include full product identification, hands on training on how to pick all types of locks, and training on the use of specialist tools.

All courses are supported by a 24/7 telephone technical support backup service to ensure that MPL trainees have access to further support if they have issues whilst on site.

Course outcome on upon successful completion

All courses are fully accredited to NCFE and City & Guilds standards and those who undertake the courses successfully will be qualified to these standards.
