Former members Adam Tann and Daniel Huggins will be undertaking a gruelling bike ride to raise awareness for testicular cancer which sees them visit every Premier League football club over eight days.

The challenge has been named The Two Wheel Testicle Tour and it is being arranged to highlight and fund-raise for Orchid Cancer, a charity responsible for awareness and research of male cancers.

The challenge will begin on 12th May 2013 at Norwich City and finish at Newcastle United on 19th May, a combined distance of over 850 miles.

  • Day 1 - May 12th -Setting off from Norwich City before stopping off at Cambridge United (where both Tann and Huggins played as young professionals) then heading off South towards London.
  • Day 2 - May 13th - West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea, Fulham and QPR.
  • Day 3 - May 14th –Reading and Southampton.
  • Day 4 - May 15th - Swansea City.
  • Day 5 - May 16th - West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa.
  • Day 6 - May 17th - Stoke, Liverpool and Everton.
  • Day 7 - May 18th - Wigan, Manchester United and Manchester City.
  • Day 8 - May 19th - Sunderland before completing the challenge at Newcastle United Football Club.

The pair plan to have their photo taken with special guests and top cancer surgeons representing the local towns and cities they stop at.

Both Tann and Huggins played professional football as youngsters and Tann survived testicular cancer whilst playing for Leyton Orient.

Therefore the duo are appealing for support to help raise awareness of testicular cancer in young males.

The year 2013 has been chosen as the year to undertake the challenge for a specific reason. It is exactly 30 years since England and West Ham legend Bobby Moore was treated for cancer.

Top oncologist and director of Orchid cancer charity, Professor Tim Oliver, is one of the main supporters of the challenge.

The charity Orchid Cancer Appeal was set up by Colin Osborne, a patient of Professor Oliver, to help fund the trials and research, that has now proved the safety of this approach. The charity is now focusing its funding on work preventing and treating prostate cancer.

As part of the fund raising plan, a charity auction will be arranged at a date and venue still to be agreed once the challenge has been completed. All money raised on the night of the auction will go directly to the Orchid Cancer charity.

Huggins said: “Both of us have had our lives affected by Cancer, Adam is a testicular cancer survivor. He overcame the disease over 5 years ago and was finally given the all clear last year.

“Like many others I have lost family members to the horrible disease and we both now feel the time is right to take on a tough challenge and start fundraising for this worthy cause.”

Huggins continued: “Throughout our journey we will be blogging our progress and using social networking sites to keep supporters up to date on our travels.

“This exposure will hopefully help to raise as much money and awareness as possible for this worthy cause.”

The PFA are happy to be supporting The Two Wheel Testicle Tour and encourage as many people as possible to support Adam and Daniel.
